Our mentorship programme connects young people to mentors that excel in their respective fields and they share their skills, knowledge to set them up for success.
2019 Mentorship Programme Launch:
In April, DLA had its 2019 Mentorship Programme Launch and this event was held at Wits University. At the launch, newly recruited mentees and mentors were amongst others informed about the structure of the programme, and what the organization expect from them. The mentees were introduced officially to their new mentors. One of the speakers was Sibusiso Zwane, a Senior Mentee, who presented on how DLA’s Mentorship Programme has transformed his life.
2018 Mentorship Programme Launch:
DLA’s 2018 Mentorship Programme Launch was held at Wits University. This incredible event was attended by twenty newly recruited mentees from various academic institutions. At the event they formally met with their mentors and were orientated on the mentorship programme as a whole.
- We use a holistic approach with our mentoring programme and primarily work on building self-esteem
- We expose mentees to knowledge about alternative career paths through a partnership programme.
- Our mentor programmes break down stereotypes surrounding certain professions and populations. Mentor relationships promote awareness about diversity in their communities.
- Our partnerships outline the importance teamwork, for both the learning and work environments.
Dream for Life Africa runs a mentorship programme with the following objectives:
- Creating a link between the theoretical knowledge learnt in class through practice by contextualizing the information to prepare them for the workplace;
- Exposing students to opportunities and useful contacts in their respective fields of study, thus affording them better opportunity to secure employment and to make well-informed decisions in doing so;
- Propel students to higher academic achievement and personal growth;
- To inspire, encourage and uplift students to stay focused as they embark on their journey.
